Chris Olave has established himself as one of the best young receivers in the the leagues and it’s no secret as to why.

Having grown up in San Ysidro, California, Chris attended Mission Hills high school and played football, basketball, and baseball, while also running track. His senior year on the gridiron was record-shattering, as he recorded an astounding 93 receptions for 1,764 yards and 26 touchdowns, leading Mission Hills to the San Diego Section Open Division championship game and ultimately accepting an offer to play for the Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus, Ohio, where he would go on to set the record for most receiving touchdowns in school history.

As a freshman, Chris offered a preview of his talents when he caught two touchdown passes against Ohio State’s biggest rival, Michigan. In 2019, Chris’ preview transitioned into a full display, as he ended the season as Ohio State’s leading receiver in yards and touchdowns, with 49 receptions for 849 yards and 12 touchdowns, en route to being named to the third-team All-Big Ten by coaches and the media after the season. Chris’ junior year nationally ranked amongst the best, as he went over the 100-yard mark in five of seven games while catching two touchdowns in three of seven games, en route to ending the season with 50 catches for 729 yards and seven touchdowns. Chris also put together arguably his best game of his Buckeye career during the season, burning Clemson’s secondary for six receptions for 132 yards and two touchdowns, resulting in Ohio State advancing to the National Championship Game for the first time since 2015, and seeing him named first-team All-Big Ten in 2020.

Chris carried the momentum from his incredible junior year into his final season in Columbus; being named a team captain and continuing to set Ohio State receiving records. Chris ended the year with 65 catches for 935 yards and 13 touchdowns, with his TD mark leading the Big Ten and being tied for 6th in the nation. His efforts led to him being named 1st team All-Big Ten and an AFCA First-Team All-American. Chris ended his illustrious career at Ohio State being ranked first in touchdown catches with 35, third in receptions and fifth in receiving yards. Chris then turned his attention towards preparing for the NFL draft as he sought to become the first WR off the board. He put up eye-popping numbers at the NFL combine by running a 4.39 40-yard dash while also recording a 32.0” vertical jump.

Chris carried the momentum from his incredible junior year into his final season in Columbus; being named a team captain and continuing to set Ohio State receiving records. Chris ended the year with 65 catches for 935 yards and 13 touchdowns, with his TD mark leading the Big Ten and being tied for 6th in the nation. His efforts led to him being named 1st team All-Big Ten and an AFCA First-Team All-American. Chris ended his illustrious career at Ohio State being ranked first in touchdown catches with 35, third in receptions and fifth in receiving yards. Chris then turned his attention towards preparing for the NFL draft as he sought to become the first WR off the board. He put up eye-popping numbers at the NFL combine by running a 4.39 40-yard dash while also recording a 32.0” vertical jump. 

These efforts combined with his elite collegiate production led to him being selected 11th overall by the New Orleans Saints in the 2022 NFL Draft. His rookie year got off to an electric start posting 9 receptions for 147 yards in only his third professional game while catching his first career touchdown the following week. Chris continued putting up big numbers throughout the course of his rookie season finishing with 72 receptions for 1042 yards and 4 touchdowns en route to being named to the 2022 PFWA All-Rookie Team. He spent the offseason establishing rapport with new Saints quarterback Derek Carr as he seeks to further establish himself as one of the top young wide receivers in the NFL going into the 2023 season.
